Colleagues at DLC Training recently hosted a successful fundraising day for Mental Health Matters, a charity dedicated to working with people with mental health needs.

Maddy Gilbert, Course Advisor, and Laura Hutton, Student Mentor, organised a jam-packed day filled with a prize raffle, cake sale and a pub-style quiz. Thanks to a generous donation of prizes from the CEO, staff were happy to part with their cash to be in with a chance of winning prizes including a weekend stay at a York country manor, a 9.2’ Android Tablet or an extra days’ holiday.

Colleagues even got involved to offer their time and skills to raise money for the charity including giving head massages and teaching an introductory language class.

The event, which raised more than £930.00, was a huge success and both Maddy and Laura were overwhelmed with the support of their colleagues. “We wanted to make it a really fun and enjoyable day for staff and give them a reason to get involved and raise money for Mental Health Matters. We were thrilled with the prizes we had on offer and really appreciate the efforts of our colleagues in making it such a success.”

Maddy and Laura will also be running the Sunderland City 10k on 28th April to help make a difference to the lives of those affected by mental health problems. They have seen a great deal of support and donations from friends and family, colleagues and students. You can show your support by donating to the team here:
