DLC Training recently announced the winners of their Annual Awards, revealing Gateshead Council had been selected as the winner of the Organisation of the Year 2012.
The criteria for entries included a demonstration of outstanding commitment to staff development; we received several high calibre nominations for this category and our independent judging panel were unanimous in their decision to award Gateshead Council with the honour.
In 2012 Lindsay Rosul the Strategic Development Team Leader in Corporate Procurement at Gateshead Council enrolled a number of team members onto the Foundation Diploma in Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) course delivered by DLC Training. The entire team successfully progressed through their courses with the support of their employer, with Gateshead Council showing a clear commitment to the development of their staff.
DLC’s business training and development advisor, Jacky Stansfield, visited Gateshead Council head office to present the award. “The commitment and dedication of the students from Gateshead Council has been matched by the support of their Managers and was reflected in their outstanding progress throughout their studies. Gateshead Council has demonstrated their forward thinking approach with regards to employee development and the benefit of both the individual procurement officers and the improved performance of the procurement team” Jacky commented.
Councillor Peter Mole MBE, Cabinet Member for Gateshead Council was thrilled to receive the award, “I am delighted that the Council has been recognised as showing ongoing support and commitment for its employees by receiving the “Organisation of the year” award from DLC Training. This evidences that despite the tough financial climate the council is facing, it is still focussed on improving the skills and knowledge of its employees.”
