The president of the CareerBuilder job site has advised jobseekers to individually tailor their CV for each job they apply for. He said that sending out blanket CV’s to large numbers of employers was not likely to work well for those looking for new employment.

Tony Roy said: “”Employers can spot spam a mile away.

“”If you send out a blanket CV to 100 employers, it will likely be dismissed. Make sure to tailor your CV for every employer.””

Mr Roy also advised providing specific accomplishments as part of a CV, rather than simply listing skills without any backup evidence.

Recent research by CareerBuilder suggests that around 32% of employers spend a minute or less looking at a CV.
