Festival of Learning (previously Adult Learners’ Week) is the biggest celebration of lifelong learning in England. The festival celebrates the remarkable achievements of adults who have used learning to transform their lives, and highlights how lifelong learning benefits society and the economy.
The mission is to highlight the benefits of learning and to encourage everyone to embrace lifelong learning. From individuals who, through learning, have transformed their own lives and the lives of their families, friends, their communities, and the places they work to the tutors whose valuable contribution to adult learning and the impact they have had on their learners deserves recognition.
Festival of Learning also recognises the innovative learning projects or provision that could be replicated or adapted by other learning providers and the employers that have used learning to develop and utilise the skills of their workforce to improve productivity, raise morale, increase staff retention and enhance their business performance.
With the recent launch of the Government’s Industrial Strategy placing significant emphasis on lifelong education and training, it has never been more important to raise the profile of adult learning and celebrate the positive difference it makes to communities, families, workplaces and people’s lives.
Here, at DLC, we’ve been reaching out to our own learners to hear about their journey and how lifelong learning has benefitted them and their careers. We’ve launched a series of blogs so that we can share their experience with you. Our aim is to inspire, encourage and educate through real stories. You can read them here.
