Confidence is rising amongst UK exporters as many expect their profitability to improve in the next 12 months.

The DHL/BCC Trade Confidence Index surveyed more than 1000 exporters in the UK, and found that 46 percent expected increased turnover in the next year, up from 41 percent in the last quarter.

Trade documentation data has shown continued growth in export sales, with figures up 3.6% compared to the same quarter last year.

Phil Couchman, chief executive of DHL Express said: “It is encouraging though to see an expectation for growth among UK exporters, albeit a conservative figure. It shows that these businesses are taking steps to drive the recovery and out-perform the recession, with indicators suggesting that they are confident of improving turnover and profitability over the next 12 months.”
